JUDGING ASSERTIONS
Commercials convey messages that appear to be appealing to public. They serve as mediator between the consumers and the manufacturers. That is why; many producers tend to create advertisements that could catch the attention of the people. However, most of these commercials deceive viewers. They provide wrong information that changes the message.
One of these commercials that I am talking about is the LBC advertisement, in which a grade school pupil is asked in a spelling bee contest to spell ‘instant’. As an answer, the boy replied ‘LBC’, which is in fact a wrong answer. However, Edu Manzano, the host recognized the boy’s answer. This assertion is misleading since there is distortion of facts. There could be no way that ‘instant’ can turn into ‘LBC’. Though, the commercial tries to convey that LBC delivers instantly, it is not right to say that ‘instant’ spells as ‘LBC’. They could have just find other way that they are able to convey that LBC delivers instantly.
There are still other advertisements that use same tactics with LBC in transmitting messages. They should be more careful in delivering their messages because a lot of viewers are minors, which in fact not a good example for them. Also, it could change the real message of the commercial.
